Daniel Arens

Daniel Arens
2016-current, PhD Candidate

I am a third year PhD student and am focusing on understanding the network of proteins that control oxygen consumption and lipid biosynthesis. I plan on continuing research in a government organization such as a national laboratory.

Daniel Thompson

Daniel Thompson
2017-current, PhD Candidate

I am a PhD student researching phage biology. I received my undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology. I am interested in antibiotic resistant bacteria and phage therapy research. I am currently working on novel treatments to improve honey bee health.

Colleen Newey

2019-current, MS Candidate

I am a Masters student researching the Ataxin-2 interactome to better understand ALS and metabolic disease.

Hannah Ferguson

Undergraduate

I am a junior studying Molecular Biology. I am working on the CryAB protein project and I enjoy research and hope to continue doing it in the future.

Laura Barnett

Laura Barnett
Undergraduate

I am a senior studying Genetics & Biotechnology, working on a project studying the CryAB protein and how certain missense mutations can change its molecular function and binding partners. I am hoping to someday work in the field of cancer research.

Michael Sirrine

Undergraduate

I am a senior studying Molecular Biology and I am currently working on finding binding partners of cbf1 so we can better understand it's role in cellular respiration. I hope to continue doing research to understand more about cell functions and health.

Samuel Flor

Undergraduate

Rochelle Gaertner

Undergraduate

Jacob Fairholm

Undergraduate

Tyson Stoker

Undergraduate

I am a senior studying Exercise Science and I am currently working on a project involving phage abundance in humans. We will be using the data collected from human samples to compare the abundance of different bacteriophages in individuals’ microbiome, yielding various implications. I plan to apply to medical school.

Sam Rutter

Undergraduate

I am a junior studying Neuroscience with a Spanish minor and I am working on the CryAB protein project, seeing how certain mutations affect its binding partners, and thus function. I plan to go to medical school and use my knowledge to advance research as well.

Alex Atkinson

High School Intern

I am a high school student at Mountain Heights Academy and Herriman High. I have participated in this internship for two years. I want to use this internship to gain experience and expertise in microbiology and molecular biology. I hope to be a geneticist or molecular biologist when I'm older.
