Profile

Briefly tell us about yourself (e.g. hometown, family, hobbies, favorite BYU courses, intended profession)

Spokane, WA is my hometown. I have two wonderful parents, and I am the oldest of their five children. Some of my favorite hobbies are playing and watching sports, playing the piano, painting with watercolors, and going on hikes and being outside especially when it's warm. My favorite BYU courses have been Human Anatomy and Infection & Immunity. I intend to become a dentist after four years of dental school which begin this fall!

Who were your greatest supporters while earning this degree?

My mom and dad were always there to listen to me on the hard and discouraging days, and they always encouraged me and celebrated my successes during my time at BYU. Their support was invaluable!

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen at BYU?

Study and learn about those topics that interest you. With whatever you do at BYU, do it because you love it! Find a good group of friends, and enjoy time with them. Focus on the blessings and good things in life.

How has your experience at BYU prepared you for the rest of your life?

One of the most important things I learned at BYU was the process of learning and seeking for knowledge. The material in my classes was not as crucial to understand as this lesson. Knowledge can be forgotten after a test or semester ends, material in a textbook can become obsolete, but knowing how to learn and nurturing a desire to continually improve is a skill that is essential for a fulfilling life.
