Profile

Briefly tell us about yourself (e.g. hometown, family, hobbies, favorite BYU courses, intended profession)

I'm from Jacksonville, Florida born and raised, but met my husband 5.5 years ago at BYU in a Bio 130 class. My husband, Daniel, is from Draper, Utah so we live in Utah now, but will be moving out of state for my husband's post-doc this summer. We have an almost 3 year old little girl and a baby boy coming in a week! My favorite BYU courses were my PDBio courses as i love human anatomy and physiology. I intend to one day get my nursing degree and become a nurse, and potentially a nurse practitioner after that.

Who were your greatest supporters while earning this degree?

My greatest supporter was my husband. He is my rock and I could not have done it without him! Next would be my dad, who actually paid for my tuition and books and always encouraged me when I got a good grade in my classes. My mother-in-law also was a huge supporter, and I also couldn't have done it without her help watching our little girl while I went to class.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen at BYU?

Make sure your professor knows who you are. Visiting them regularly during office hours will be one of the strongest indicators to them of your determination to succeed.

How has your experience at BYU prepared you for the rest of your life?

Getting my degree was essential to me and my husband in case one day I have to support our family. The education I received was top notch and it helped prepare me to be a better, more disciplined mother and wife.
