Briefly tell us about yourself (e.g. hometown, family, hobbies, favorite BYU courses, intended profession)

From Rexburg, Idaho. I loved Bacterial Pathogenesis (mmbio 364) and Dr. Neilson’s history and philosophy of microbiology class. I am starting a microbiology PhD program at Indiana University this coming fall with the hope to one day be a professor.

Who were your greatest supporters while earning this degree?

My parents, my friends, my spouse, and my mentors Dr. Erickson and Michael Olson.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen at BYU?

Stand up for what’s right. You have the power to make BYU a better and more inclusive place!

How has your experience at BYU prepared you for the rest of your life?

My experiential learning with Dr. Erickson and Dr. Wilson has given me the knowledge and tools I need to succeed in a future of research and mentorship.
