Profile

Briefly tell us about yourself (e.g. hometown, family, hobbies, favorite BYU courses, intended profession)

I'm from Richland, WA and the youngest of 5 kids that have all graduated from BYU. My favorite courses at BYU are all the courses in the MLS program because of the wonderful friends and professors I met in the program. I have just accepted a job at Utah Valley Hospital in the Transfusion department and I'm super excited to be working in the lab!

Who were your greatest supporters while earning this degree?

My husband was my greatest supporter while I had to spend many weekends studying and trying to keep up with classes. My parents were also great cheerleaders, constantly listening to me complain about how much work I had to get done and yet never doubting my ability to succeed.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen at BYU?

Keep trying different classes and majors until you find something you absolutely love doing. School and work are actually the funnest (probably not a word, sorry) things ever when you're doing what you love.

How has your experience at BYU prepared you for the rest of your life?

I have learned so much at BYU in all aspects of life. I have learned about science and how to think critically, but I've also learned that God cares about things that are important to me and that I can include Him in all aspects of life, not just the spiritual. BYU has taught me to combine faith and science and to recognize God's hand in the world all around me.
