Bachelor of Science, Microbiology

Profile

Briefly tell us about yourself (e.g. hometown, family, hobbies, favorite BYU courses, intended profession)

I grew up in a family of six, with two older brothers, and one younger sister. We lived all over the world due to my dad being in the military, and I now consider Michigan home. I come from a very musical family, and spend the majority of my time singing and playing the viola. I started BYU as a viola performance major before changing to Microbiology after my sophomore year. I added a German double major due to growing up in Germany, and was later sent to Ecuador on my mission, so languages play a major part in my life. I now work as a Medical Assistant for a private ENT office, in preparation for PA school.

Who were your greatest supporters while earning this degree?

My parents and the Mecham family

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen at BYU?

Everyone has their own opinions, but the real truth is, Swig has the best sugar cookies, and Don Chuy’s has the best tacos :)

How has your experience at BYU prepared you for the rest of your life?

Had I attended a different university for music, I would not have been able to switch majors so easily after I discovered that I wanted to go in to healthcare. BYU allowed me to follow the new path that led me to what I really want to do with my life.
