Abigail Johnson, PhD Candidate
Abby is a PhD student in the O'Neill lab. She received her BS in Microbiology from BYU in 2022, and loved the opportunities she had to do immunology research during her undergraduate degree. She now studies immunotherapy developments for cancer and autoimmune disease, and is passionate about harnessing the power of the immune system to treat diseases and better quality of life for these patients. She is from Dallas, TX and loves the warmth there! She enjoys the arts and the outdoors, and some of her favorites are painting, paddle boarding, hiking, and dancing.
Mackenzie Hansen, Microbiology Undergraduate
Mackenzie is an undergraduate student from New York who is interested in improving treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases. She plans to get a PhD and work for a biotech company in the future. She likes to learn about the world through literature and film and also hopes to make a film of her own someday. She also enjoys playing piano, exercising, and spending time with friends.
